GO! Screamed the instructor over the deafening noise of the aircraft engine and the wind racing past the open door.
I was at 2200 ft over the Shropshire countryside, sat on the sill on a very small aircraft. I pushed away from the side of the Cherokee 6 single engine plane, feeling guilty, as I really didn’t want to let go. But I felt that I didn’t have the courage to say no. All of a sudden the noise that had moments ago filed my head had gone. The change in volume was intense. As I felt myself being lifted up right by the billowing round parachute, and as my attention was drawn upwards to see the nylon fabric filling with air, I noticed the small aircraft flying away into the distance.
